vegetation, soothing waterfalls and cascading fountains, this bastion of natural splendor is widely regarded as a “spiritual” location due to the powerful effect it has on visitors.

Certified as an official Wildlife Habitat by the U.S. Wildlife Federation, Garden of the

Groves is home to an array of indigenous and migratory birds, providing them with food, water, shelter and space for raising their young. Additional and specific flowers and shrubbery were recently planted with the intention of producing nectar and berries and attracting insects to sustain the abundance of diverse avian life.

A wonderful way to see the gardens is on a guided walking tour. All guides at Garden of the Groves are certified by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, and they are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge of local flora and fauna with visitors. In addition to pre-booked tours for hotel guests and cruise ship passengers, there are two public tours daily at 11am and 2pm. Particularly popular amongst school students and teachers, the tour lasts approximately one hour, and covers the fascinating history and biodiversity of the gardens.

After your tour be sure to stop into the Garden’s restaurant and gift shop for a tasty treat and a bit of shopping. Garden of the Groves also offers frequent community lectures and workshops on bird watching, painting, meditation and other restful pursuits.

Getting married or planning another special event? Garden of the Groves features several gorgeous venues, including a picturesque fifty-seat chapel (consecrated non- denominational) that rests on the top of a hill. If you’re looking for a larger venue, better options would be the St. Francis Pagoda or The Labyrinth, which seat one hundred and two hundred guests, respectively.
